Harold Spooner was the father of Edward Spooner, founder of Spoonerville and the husband to Ruth Spooner. Harold was born on April 23, 1818 in Annapolis, Maryland. Spooner went to college from 1835 to 1840 in Philadelphia and moved to New York City in 1843 where he met Ruth, in which they were wed on May 14, 1847.
Harold fought in the Civil War with the Union, and was killed on August 20, 1863 at the age of 45 during the Second Battle of Fort Sumter.
